At our Sumner B&B apartment retreat you can choose from:

The Studio - king-sized bed (or two singles), ensuite bathroom, and microwave kitchen.

The Suite - bedroom with king-sized bed (or two singles), large lounge with "down-under trundler" that is a king single bed during the day but can be made up as two king singles or a king double for sleeping.  The Suite has its own full kitchen and bathroom.

Both the Suite and the Studio are centrally heated, have a stocked breakfast kitchen, TV and DVD, and have their own separate private entrances.

The Suite and Studio bed and breakfast accommodation is on the ground floor of our 1870's historic villa, which is set in the serene surroundings of the Christchurch premier seaside suburb of Sumner. Our bed and breakfast is one block from Sumner beach and is set in ¼ of an acre of rambling garden.

A short walk along The Esplanade will bring you to Sumner Village and its cinema, specialty shops, and over 20 cafés and restaurants. A 20-minute drive or a regular bus service will take you to the centre of Christchurch.

 

Facilities

Abbott House in Sumner is about more than just accommodation. Your hosts Janet and Chris Abbott have travelled extensively - sometimes in luxury and sometimes in poverty. We understand that personal service makes the difference. Here is a small selection of the facilities that we can offer at our sunny Sumner accommodation. If it is not listed, please ask, and we will try to help:

  • Central heating  (water-filled radiators)

  • Laundry and ironing facilities

  • Baby cot, high-chair, baby bath - with prior notice please

  • Baby-sitting by arrangement

  • Sit-on canoes, and bodyboards for those warm surfing days

  • Informal book exchange

  • Brodband Internet access for those with their own PCs

No smoking inside please.
